Guan Yu

Guan Yu , with the character Yun Chang, was a native of Xie County, Hedong County. He was a famous general at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In the fifth year of Jian’an, Cao Cao advanced eastward to defeat Liu Bei, and Guan Yu was captured, so he accompanied Cao Cao to meet Yuan Shao’s army in Guandu, and stabbed Yuan Shao’s general Yan Liang in the midst of a crowd of 10,000 people, and was appointed as Han Shou Ting Hou. After his death, Guan Yu was honored as “Lord Guan” by the people, and was praised by the imperial court in the past dynasties. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, he was honored as the “Sage of Martial Arts”, with the same status as the “Sage of Literature”, Confucius.
